CostCon is a job costing, accounting and documentation system that has been developed for Building and Civil contractors and associated trade companies. Over 60 companies use CostCon and they are spread across New Zealand, from Northland to the Deep South.
CostCon incorporates the requirements of the Contracts Act 2002. The package further differentiates itself from other accounting packages as it has been designed as a Project Management tool with integrated accounting modules, not as an accounting system with a Job Costing module tacked on.
CostCon handles all those tricky aspects of contracting; variation orders, retentions and progress claims in a comprehensive fashion.
The system is used by Commercial, Residential & Civil construction companies, a wide variety of trade Sub Contractors, jobbing manufacturers and other Service related industries.
Emphasis has been focused on providing efficiencies to process various job types suitable for these sectors including: Quoted / Tender ProjectsService JobsOpen book AssignmentsMeasure & Value ProjectsCharge up work

CostCon integrates with a range of common payroll systems. IMS Payroll is our preferred payroll package and we integrate closely with IMS Payroll. We also support links with ACE Pay and MYOB payroll.
CostCon has recently released a new web/internet time entry module – ONtime. ONtime allows remote staff or site managers to log labour and plant resource hours against the relevant job and sub code. ONtime is optimised for iPad and popular web browsers.
CostConnect provides a flexible user driven reporting facility. In essence, our R&D team have created a simple mechanism that links standard Excel spread sheets directly to the CostCon database. Your Directors or Managers simply need to outline the information they want to see, and we’ll replicate that in a standard Excel spread sheet. The reports we have developed for clients range from advanced tabular reports through to dynamic KPI job management dashboards.
In the old days, tailored reporting to suit each client would typically involve days of time and thousands of dollars. CostConnect Management reporting is the “turbo charged version” and involves hours and hundreds of dollars.
By the way, CostCon comes with a comprehensive suite of standard reports and inquiries contained in the system. These are designed to allow the project manager to manage the job at a summary level and to drill down to view the detailed transactions as required. Similarly, CostCon provides your accounting staff with a raft of standard reports.
CostCon provides tax exclusive and inclusive views of each transaction. It manages the preparation and calculation of GST / VAT / Sales tax (specific processing is incorporated to handle requirements of the Australian and New Zealand Tax Departments). Once setup GST is handled by the accounting system.
Facilities are also provided for handling the tax position and reporting for external labour only contractors withholding tax, buyer created invoices for sub-contractors, progress claims, retentions, etc.
